1J22 is an iron-cobalt-vanadium high-saturation soft magnetic alloy that efficiently conducts magnetic flux under strong magnetic fields. It is primarily used in precision electromagnetic devices that require strong magnetic fields and high magnetic energy density.
Components of 1J22
Cobalt (Co): 49.0%–51.0%. The high cobalt content is key to achieving ultra-high saturation magnetic flux density. Cobalt forms a solid solution with iron, significantly enhancing the material’s ferromagnetism.
Vanadium (V): 0.8%–1.8%. Vanadium refines the grain structure, inhibits grain coarsening at high temperatures, and improves the alloy’s plasticity and toughness while reducing brittleness.
Iron (Fe): Approximately 48%–50%. Iron serves as the matrix and synergizes with cobalt to enhance magnetic properties.

Impurity Control: Carbon (C) ≤ 0.04%, Silicon (Si) ≤ 0.3%, Manganese (Mn) ≤ 0.3%, Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.02%, Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.02%.

United Kingdom: Permendur
Russia: 50КФ

Magnetic Properties of 1J22
| Saturation Magnetic Flux Density (Bs): ≥ 2.4 T. 1J22 boasts one of the highest values among soft magnetic materials, significantly exceeding silicon steel’s 2.0 T and 1J79’s 0.8 T. This means it can generate a stronger magnetic field in the same volume, making it suitable for miniaturized, high-power devices.

| Initial Permeability (μ₀): Approximately 800–1200. 1J22 has lower permeability in weak magnetic fields compared to high-nickel soft magnetic alloys like 1J79, but its permeability remains high under strong magnetic fields.
| Coercivity (Hc): ≤ 4.0 Oersted. As a soft magnetic material, 1J22 can be demagnetized after magnetization. However, its coercivity is slightly higher than that of 1J79, resulting in somewhat higher hysteresis loss.

Differences from Other Soft Magnetic Alloys
| Alloy Grade | Saturation Magnetic Flux Density (Bs) | Initial Permeability (μ₀) | Application Scenarios | Cost |
| 1J22 | ≥2.4 T | 800–1200 | Strong magnetic fields, miniaturized devices | High (contains cobalt) |
| 1J79 | 0.8 T | ≥40,000 | Weak magnetic fields, high precision (e.g., shielding) | Medium |
| Silicon Steel | ~2.0 T | ~5,000 | Power-frequency strong magnetic fields (e.g., transformers) | Low |
Applications of 1J22
Thanks to its “ultra-high saturation magnetic flux density,” 1J22 is primarily used in scenarios demanding strong magnetic fields and high magnetic energy density, especially where device miniaturization is required.
| Aerospace Field: Due to its lightweight, small size, and high-temperature resistance, it is highly suitable for manufacturing electrical components for aviation and aerospace applications. Typical uses include aircraft generators and electric motors (micro-motors/micro-rotors).

| Transducers and Sensors: Leveraging its high saturation magnetostriction coefficient, it is extremely well-suited for making magnetostrictive transducer cores, offering high output energy and high efficiency.
| Electronics and Electrical Industry: It is used in the production of high-power pulse transformers, advanced electromagnets, magnetic lenses, relays, magnetron tube end seals, and telephone receiver diaphragms.
