Assembled Multipole Magnetic Rings

Assembled multipole magnetic rings are widely used in various applications, and their flexibility and cost-effectiveness give them a certain status in areas where precision is not critically required.

Definition of Assembled Multipole Magnetic Rings

An assembled multi-pole magnetic ring is a magnet comprising multiple independent magnetic tiles (each corresponding to one magnetic pole) mechanically assembled into a ring structure. The magnetic poles are formed by the combination of polarities of each magnetic tile.

Definition of Assembled Multipole Magnetic Rings

The characteristic of this magnetic ring is that it creates a complete ring-shaped magnet by arranging and connecting multiple pre-fabricated magnetic tiles according to a specific polarity arrangement, resulting in a multi-pole magnetic field distribution. Unlike solid multi-pole magnetic rings (which create multi-poles through a single ring-shaped magnet), the manufacturing process of assembled multi-pole magnetic rings places more emphasis on the prefabrication and assembly of magnetic tiles.

Advantages of Assembled Multipole Magnetic Rings

| Ease of Installation and Maintenance: Magnetic tiles are manufactured individually, allowing for quick assembly into a ring structure through mechanical interlocking during installation. This process is relatively straightforward and facilitates subsequent maintenance and replacement. If a specific magnetic tile gets damaged, it can be replaced individually without the need to replace the entire magnetic ring, thus reducing maintenance costs and downtime.

| Lower Cost: Assembled multipole magnetic rings are constructed from multiple independent magnetic tiles, making the manufacturing process relatively simple without the need for complex overall molding equipment and molds, thus reducing production costs. This cost advantage is particularly pronounced in mass production, making it suitable for cost-sensitive application scenarios.

| Suitable for Large Size Applications: For large diameter magnetic rings (such as those with a diameter greater than 100mm), an assembled structure is easier to achieve. Solid magnetic rings may face difficulties in manufacturing large sizes due to process complexities and high costs, while assembled magnetic rings can construct large sizes by piecing together smaller magnetic tiles, thus resolving the manufacturing challenges of large magnetic rings.

| High Flexibility: The number of magnetic poles, arrangement, and magnetic field waveform can be adjusted freely according to requirements, catering to the specific needs of different application scenarios. For instance, unconventional pole numbers (such as 10 poles, 12 poles, etc.) or customized magnetic field distributions can be achieved by combining magnetic tiles of different specifications.

Disadvantages of Assembled Multipole Magnetic Rings

| Lower Magnetic Circuit Efficiency: Gaps at joints can lead to magnetic leakage, necessitating the filling of magnetic materials (such as silicon steel sheets) in the ring core to optimize the magnetic circuit, which increases design complexity and costs. Additionally, the overall magnetic circuit efficiency remains lower than that of solid magnetic rings.

| Lower Dimensional Precision: The assembled structure, due to the connection of multiple pieces, has lower dimensional precision, and tolerances may accumulate, potentially affecting concentricity. The accuracy of the surface magnetic field distribution of assembled magnetic rings is lower, and gaps at the joints can lead to uneven magnetic fields. Under high-frequency applications, additional electromagnetic interference may arise at the joints, and there is a risk of magnetic tile displacement.

| Poor Magnetic Field Uniformity: The discontinuity of the magnetic field at the joints may lead to lower accuracy in surface magnetic field distribution and insufficient magnetic field uniformity. In high-frequency applications, additional electromagnetic interference may occur, affecting the performance of the equipment.

Applications of Assembled Multipole Magnetic Rings

Assembled multi-pole magnetic rings have mature technology and relatively low costs, but the trade-off between precision and magnetic leakage issues must be considered. They are commonly used in fields with relatively low requirements for precision and torque density, such as traditional motor rotors, stators, etc. In summary, assembled magnetic rings are low-cost and highly flexible, making them suitable for mass applications.
