Flexible magnets, also known as flexible rubber magnets, are widely used in many areas of business and life.
Concept of Flexible Magnets
Flexible magnets are made of magnetic powder mixed with synthetic rubber or plastic through a specific process. Flexible magnets can be bent and twisted without damaging or degrading their magnetic properties, and they also have good machinability, allowing the user to cut and punch with conventional tools.
Classification and Selection of Flexible Magnets
There are three types: samarium iron nitride flexible magnets, neodymium iron boron flexible magnets, and ferrite flexible magnets.
Samarium Iron Nitride Flexible Magnets | The particle size of samarium iron nitrogen magnetic powder is relatively fine, so the surface of samarium iron nitrogen flexible magnet is very delicate and soft. Its magnetic properties are stronger than ferrite flexible magnet, but its magnetic properties are weaker than the magnetic properties of NdFeB flexible magnet.
Neodymium Iron Boron Flexible Magnets | The granularity of NdFeB flexible magnet is bigger and the surface is rougher than the samarium iron nitrogen flexible magnet. The advantage of NdFeB flexible magnets is that they have stronger magnetic power. The disadvantage is that they are more susceptible to being oxidized.
Ferrite Flexible magnets | The surface of a ferrite flexible magnet is a bit rougher than a samarium iron nitrogen flexible magnet, and the magnetism of a ferrite flexible magnet is not as strong as that of a samarium iron nitrogen flexible magnet or NdFeB flexible magnet. But its price is the cheapest.
Each material has its advantages and disadvantages. Users should choose flexible magnets according to detailed requirements, such as magnetic power or operating temperature. We can even get ferrite, NdFeB, and samarium iron nitrogen together to make a composite magnetic powder so that the magnetic powder can have the advantages of the three materials.

Production Process of Flexible Magnets
Powder mixing | Powder mixing is the mixing of the various materials needed in a flexible magnet.
Smelting | The powder is put into the equipment and processed into semi-finished products in the form of flakes.
Stacking | Manufacturers stack multiple layers of semi-finished products together to make the product more dense and better performance. After several times of stacking, the thickness of the finished product is reached.
Cutting | Cut to different sizes and shapes according to the customer’s requirements.
Surface Treatment | For better appearance and rust prevention, Surface treatment is needed.
Surface Treatment of Flexible Magnets
Because flexible magnets cannot be plated, it is common to encapsulate them in a film. The surface looks clean and beautiful after this treatment. And it can be customized with different colors or spray-painted with different patterns according to customers’ requirements.
In addition to the film, you can also make a layer of adhesive layer on the surface of the flexible magnet, which is convenient for fixing the flexible magnet on the non-magnetic surface.

Use and Precautions
If the surface is magnetically attachable, such as a refrigerator at home. At this point, you can simply attach the flexible magnet to the surface and use it.
It is important to note that flexible magnets with different thicknesses have different suction strengths. For posters used in the advertising industry, thicker flexible magnetic sheets are needed due to the larger size of the posters, while magnetic photos that can be stuck onto a refrigerator at home don’t need thicker ones due to their smaller size.
If the surface is not magnetically attachable, such as glass, then you need to use an adhesive-backed flexible magnet. This flexible magnet has a magnet on one side and an adhesive on the other side.
It should be noted that for different objects, there are different kinds of adhesive available, such as sticking to the wall, sticking to the glass, or sticking to some other non-magnetic objects. Other factors affecting the choice of adhesive are the weight of the loaded object, the surrounding environment, and the operating temperature. According to different scenes, different adhesives can be applied.
Advantages of Flexible Magnets
Wide range of applications | In real life, they can be used flexibly in a variety of different scenarios depending on the strength of the magnetic force.
Personalization | They can be made in a variety of colors, users do not need to make secondary printing or spraying, they just need to cut out the corresponding text or pattern according to the users’ requirements.
Protect the wall | Traditionally, if you need to fix a decorative painting on the wall, you need to use nails or screws, which will cause damage to the wall. Using a flexible magnet, you don’t have to worry about such problems at all.
