Magnetic Leak Patch

A magnetic leak patch is an emergency rescue tool that uses magnetic principles to seal leaks and is widely used in fields such as oil, chemicals, and shipping.

Definition of Magnetic Leak Patch

The magnetic leak patch generates a magnetic field through built-in strong magnetic materials (such as permanent magnets or electromagnets). It uses magnetic attraction to ferromagnetic objects to tightly adhere the sealing tool to the metal surface at the leak point, creating sealing pressure to prevent the leaking medium from continuing to escape. Some magnetic leak patches also combine sealing adhesives, binding straps, and other auxiliary means to enhance sealing further.

Components of Magnetic Leak Patch

| Rubber Matrix: Typically made from synthetic rubber (such as neoprene, nitrile rubber, etc.) or natural rubber. The rubber matrix provides flexibility, elasticity, and processability, enabling it to adapt to various shapes and application scenarios.

| Magnetic Filler: Uses powdered rare earth permanent magnetic materials, such as neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB). These magnetic powders have high magnetic energy product and strong magnetism, serving as the main source of the material’s magnetism.

| Additives: Includes vulcanizing agents, accelerators, plasticizers, stabilizers, etc. These additives improve the processing properties, physical performance, and magnetic stability of the rubber; for example, vulcanizing agents can make the rubber cross-linked and cured, enhancing the material’s mechanical strength and durability.

Advantages of Magnetic Leak Patch

| Simple and Fast Operation: The magnetic leak patch adheres through magnetic attraction, requiring no complex installation tools or professional skills. Simply align the magnetic leak patch with the leak point and activate the magnetic switch to quickly secure it, making it efficient for urgent rescue operations such as pipe bursts or tank leaks.

| Strong Adaptability: It can adapt to a variety of shapes and curvatures of leak points, such as flat surfaces, curved surfaces, protruding valves, and irregular cracks. Some magnetic leak patches can also bend, deform, or be used in combination to cover different sizes and shapes of leak areas, with a typical operating temperature range of -50℃ to 80℃.

| Good Pressure Resistance and Sealing Performance: Using high-strength magnetic materials and sealing structures, the patch can withstand certain pressures (usually up to 1.5MPa-2MPa) while maintaining stable adsorption and sealing effectiveness even in high-pressure environments, effectively preventing the leakage of media.

| Corrosion Resistance and Durability: The outer shell and sealing materials are often made from chemically resistant materials like EPDM and neoprene, allowing them to withstand the erosion of acids, bases, oils, and solvents without aging or damage over long-term use, thereby extending the service life.

| Reusable: Most magnetic leak patches can be easily disassembled by turning off the magnetic switch, cleaned, and reused, reducing usage costs, especially suitable for multiple emergency rescue or long-term maintenance.

Precautions of The Magnetic Leak Patch

| Check the magnetic force of the magnetic leak patch before use to ensure the tool is intact.

| Clean any impurities and oil from the leak area during operation to ensure effective magnetic adhesion.

| Choose the appropriate model of magnetic leak patch based on the leak pressure and medium characteristics to avoid overpressure usage.

| After use, promptly clean and maintain the tool to extend its service life.
