Miniature magnets, thanks to their small size and high magnetic performance, play an important role in many fields. Miniature magnets are also the main topic of this discussion.
Definition of Miniature Magnets
Miniature magnets typically refer to magnets with dimensions in the millimeter range or even smaller, with common diameters or side lengths ranging from 0.5 mm to a few millimeters.

Miniature magnets are often made from high-performance magnetic materials, with common materials including neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB), samarium-cobalt (SmCo), etc.
Due to their small size, the magnets are generally manufactured through precision machining or special processes to ensure that they maintain strong magnetic performance even at tiny dimensions, meeting the requirements of various applications.
Materials of Miniature Magnets
| NdFeB Magnets: NdFeB magnets currently have the strongest magnetic performance, with a maximum energy product exceeding 50 MGOe. They also feature high remanence and high coercivity, enabling a strong magnetic field to be generated in an extremely small volume, achieving miniaturization. This makes them suitable for micro devices with strict space requirements.
| SmCo Magnets: The most notable characteristic of SmCo magnets is their excellent temperature stability (from -273°C to 350°C). They can maintain stable magnetic performance under both very high and very low temperatures. Since SmCo magnets are mainly composed of the rare earth elements samarium and cobalt, their cost is relatively high.
When selecting the material for miniature magnets, it is necessary to consider factors such as magnetic performance requirements, temperature, cost, space constraints, and application scenarios based on specific needs, in order to choose the appropriate miniature magnets.
Shapes of Miniature Magnets
The shape of magnets can be customized according to customer requirements.
| Cylindrical: The magnet is in the shape of a short cylinder, with magnetic poles at both ends and a uniform magnetic field distribution. Cylindrical miniature magnets are characterized by easy installation and integration.

| Rectangular/Square: Rectangular or square magnets feature a regular shape and can be assembled by combining multiple magnets to enhance the magnetic field.
| Spherical: Spherical magnets have a uniform magnetic pole distribution on the surface, enabling multi-directional magnetic fields. Spherical magnets are more difficult and costly to manufacture.
Applications of Miniature Magnets
Due to their small size and strong magnetism, miniature magnets are widely used in many fields.
| Micro Motors: Miniature magnets (e.g., NdFeB) have become the core material of micro motors because of their small size, strong magnetism, and high efficiency, meeting the demands for miniaturization, high performance, and low power consumption in the motor field.

| Wearable Devices: In wearable devices, the magnets work with sensors to detect device motion, rotation, or position changes, achieving motion and position sensing, such as screen rotation detection.
| Magnetic Field Detection: The magnets can also be used for magnetic field detection, for example, measuring parameters such as magnetic field strength and direction in magnetic navigation systems, helping devices determine orientation or detect the presence of magnetic materials.
