Nanocrystalline current transformer cores, with their comprehensive performance advantages, have become key components in high-end applications such as high-voltage relay protection, new energy grid integration, and precision industrial control.
Definition of Nanocrystalline Current Transformer Core
A nanocrystalline current transformer core is a magnetic core made from nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloy materials, specifically designed for use in current transformers. It is the key sensing component that enables the current transformer’s core function of “proportionally converting large currents into measurable small currents.”

It is typically manufactured by shearing, winding, and heat-treating nanocrystalline materials. It can be fabricated into various shapes to meet the magnetic circuit and spatial layout requirements of different transformers.
Advantages of Nanocrystalline Current Transformer Core
| High Magnetic Permeability: The initial permeability of nanocrystalline materials is more than three times that of silicon steel. This ultra-high permeability significantly reduces magnetization resistance, allowing current signal sampling to more closely match the true waveform and easily achieve high metering accuracies such as Class 0.1 and Class 0.2S.

| High Cost-Effectiveness: Its performance is comparable to other high-end alloys, but since nanocrystalline materials are iron-based substrates without precious metal premiums, mass production costs are significantly reduced. Furthermore, nanocrystalline materials offer better processability, are less prone to brittle fracture, and provide stable mass production yields. Combining these two aspects results in extremely high cost-effectiveness.
| Suitability for Complex Waveforms: Nanocrystalline materials feature a B-H curve with excellent linearity and strong tolerance to DC components and external magnetic fields. Under complex operating conditions with DC bias (e.g., new energy grid integration, charging stations), they effectively prevent core saturation, ensuring measurement accuracy.
