Permanent Lifting Magnets, also known as magnetic lifters, are strong magnetic systems composed of high-performance NdFeB magnets, etc. Through the rotation of the handle, the magnetic force of the strong magnetic system is changed, so as to achieve the handling of plate or columnar ferrous loads. The rated lifting capacity is generally in the range of 100kg~6000kg, Permanent Lifting Magnets are now widely used in machinery, mold manufacturing, warehousing, and other industries.

Principle of Permanent Lifting Magnets

Permanent magnetic lifters work by utilizing Faraday’s principle of electromagnetic induction.

By manipulating the handle to change the distribution of magnetic field lines, you can open or close the lifter. There is no need to use electricity, the permanent magnetic lifter is a new kind of safe, energy-saving, and high-efficiency lifting tool.

When the lifter is switched on, a pair of longitudinal magnetic poles is formed on the bottom of the lifter, which holds ferrous loadings firmly. There is a V-groove on the bottom surface of the lifter, making it possible to attract column-shaped loadings in addition to plate-shaped loads.

When the lifter is in the closed state, the permanent magnet forms a closed magnetic circuit inside the lifter, no magnetic field lines are coming out from the permanent magnet lifter, so it will not produce pull force on the loadings, and loadings can be released smoothly at this time

Advantages of Permanent Lifting Magnets

Adopting computer design and simulation of magnetic circuits, the magnetic field distribution is reasonable and the permeability depth is large.

No excitation power supply and cooling system are needed, which greatly saves electricity and reduces the cost for the enterprise.

As there is no need to use a power supply, not afraid of the risk of power failure, the maximum pull-off force is 3.5 times the rated lifting capacity, with a high safety coefficient.

Easy to operate, low failure rate.

Influencing Factors to the Lifting Capacity

Several factors affect the lifting capacity and safety of permanent lifting magnets.

The material of the magnet assembly | The higher the grade of magnet used, the better the lifting capacity.

The thickness of the loading | According to the thickness-performance curve, find out the percentage of lifting capacity and choose the right permanent magnet lifters.

The surface of the loading | The surface roughness of the loading will affect the lifting capacity. The roughness is generally divided into four levels F1 ~ F4, F1 ≤ 6.3μm, F2 ≤ 12.5μm, F3 ≤ 25μm, and F4 ≤ 50μm. The corresponding percentage of lifting capacity is 100%, 90%, 80%, and 60%, respectively.

The shape of the loading | When handling column-shaped loading, the V-groove or U-groove at the bottom of the lifter needs to be in contact with the surface of the columnar load. The lifting capacity is generally 30%-50% of the rated lifting capacity.
The carbon content of the loading | The material of the load also affects the lifting capacity. The percentage of lifting capacity for low-carbon, medium-carbon, and high-carbon loading is 100%, 95%, and 90% respectively.

Neodymium Magnets in the Magnetic Lifters

The neodymium magnets are the core of magnetic lifters, ensuring a reliable and robust lifting performance. According to different requirements of magnetic pull force, different grades of neodymium magnets can be used. common neodymium magnets, such as N35 or N52, can be used for magnetic lifters.

Maintenance and Care of Permanent Lifting Magnets

NdFeB magnets are brittle. In the process of transportation and use, the magnetic lifter should be prevented from knocking or hitting, so as not to damage the NdFeB magnets in the permanent magnet lifter, affecting the performance of the lifter.

When the temperature is over 80 degrees, NdFeB magnets will demagnetize. That is why the operating temperature should be less than 80 ℃.
Substances that can corrode metal are not allowed to be placed around the lifter, preventing the corrosion of the lifter and magnets inside.

With the prolongation of the use, the pull force of the magnetic lifter will be reduced. Permanent magnetic lifters must be checked every two years to ensure that the core components, such as neodymium magnets, can be used normally.
