Softmagnetic Cord

A softmagnetic cord is an injection-molded magnet that possesses both magnetism and flexibility. It is widely used in various industries.

Definition of Softmagnetic Cord

Softmagnetic cord is primarily made by mixing soft magnetic powders (such as ferrite or neodymium iron boron powders) with flexible base materials (such as rubber, plastic, or silicone). It is formed through processes such as calendering, extrusion, and injection molding. The product combines the magnetic properties of “soft magnetism” (e.g., easy to magnetize) with the mechanical characteristics of “flexibility” (e.g., bendable).

Characteristics of Softmagnetic Cord

| Flexible and Shapeable: It has a small bending radius, allowing it to closely fit curved and contoured surfaces (e.g., cylinders and irregular shapes). It can be easily cut to the desired shape with ordinary scissors, offering strong adaptability. It is thin and lightweight, adding no extra thickness to the surface of objects.

| Magnetic Adsorption: With high magnetic density and strong surface magnetic field strength, it can firmly adhere to ferromagnetic metal surfaces such as iron plates, stainless steel, and magnetic whiteboards, providing a certain load-bearing capacity.

| Environmental Adaptability: It features a wide temperature range (typically -20°C to 80°C, with some high-temperature models reaching 120°C). It does not become brittle at low temperatures or demagnetize at high temperatures. It is also moisture-proof, corrosion-resistant, and has a long service life.

How to Use Softmagnetic Cord?

| Material Selection: Softmagnetic cords are mainly divided into Ferrite and NdFeB (Neodymium Iron Boron) materials. Ferrite materials are lower in cost with moderate magnetism, suitable for holding lightweight objects. NdFeB materials have high magnetic energy product and extremely strong magnetism, suitable for holding heavier objects or scenarios requiring a strong adsorption force.

| Specifications and Dimensions: The thickness of the magnetic cord directly affects its load-bearing capacity. If the strip is too thin or narrow, it may lack sufficient strength and break easily. Conversely, if it is too thick, it wastes material and increases costs. The length can be freely cut; it is necessary to estimate based on the actual required length and shape. Care should be taken not to damage the internal magnetic layer when cutting.

| Bending Limitations: Although softmagnetic strips are bendable, frequent excessive bending (such as repeated folding) can cause internal magnetic powder to fall off, affecting magnetism. It is recommended to maintain a reasonable bending radius.

Applications of Softmagnetic Cord

| Apparel: Softmagnetic cords are widely used in various garments and fashion accessories, primarily as replacements for traditional zippers to achieve seamless connections, quick styling, and easy dressing and undressing.

| Creative: By attaching softmagnetic cords to the back of cards, puzzles, or children’s drawings, these items can be adsorbed onto refrigerators, magnetic drawing boards, or whiteboards to create interactive cognitive walls or children’s room decoration walls that can be repeatedly assembled and changed, ideal for parent-child interaction.

| Commercial: By attaching short segments of softmagnetic strips to the back of plastic or paper price tags and product labels, they can be adsorbed onto metal shelves. This allows for quick repositioning when adjusting prices or changing products, eliminating the need for re-sticking and improving display efficiency.
