Tengye Silicon Steel Lamination Customization Process

Tengye provides professional customization services for silicon steel laminations. To facilitate communication with customers, this article outlines the process of customizing Tengye’s silicon steel laminations, hoping to assist potential clients.

The data involved in this article is based on non-oriented electrical steel 10SWH950.

Production Process of Tengye Silicon Steel Laminations

Communication and Design

Tengye communicates with the customer to clarify the specific application, performance requirements, size specifications, quantity, and other needs for the silicon steel laminations.

Width deviation(mm)Wave factor (%)
Guarantee valueTypical valueGuarantee valueTypical value

Notes:
Longitudinal thickness deviation is defined as the thickness deviation at a certain length
parallels to the rolling direction of the strip;

Transverse thickness deviation is defined as the thickness deviation at a certain length perpendicular to the rolling direction of the strip.

Then, based on the customer’s drawings, Tengye determines the relevant information or designs the core according to customer requirements. This includes specifying the exact shape of the laminations, stacking methods, insulation requirements, and other technical parameters, and producing detailed design drawings.

Material Procurement

After fully understanding the customer’s requirements, Tengye procures silicon steel materials that meet the specifications, including thickness, width, and magnetic properties. Tengye conducts quality inspections on the procured silicon steel sheets to ensure the materials are defect-free, have a smooth surface, and possess stable magnetic properties.

P1.0/400 indicates the iron loss per kilogram of sample when the maximum magnetic polarization is 1.0T, and the frequency is 400Hz;

J50 indicates the magnetic polarization at the magnetic field intensity of 5000A/m.

Stamping or Shearing

Using stamping or shearing equipment, the silicon steel sheets are stamped or sheared into the required lamination shapes according to the design drawings. During this process, Tengye controls the precision and parameters of the equipment to ensure the dimensional accuracy and edge quality of the laminations, avoiding problems like burrs or deformation. The laminations undergo a flattening process to ensure a smooth surface, improving the stacking factor and the magnetic performance of the core.

Stacking factor ≥ 94%

Note: The stacking factor is tested according to the standard GB/T 19289. Standards are negotiable.

Insulation Treatment

Tengye applies an insulating coating or attaches insulating materials such as insulating paint, insulating paper, or insulating films on the surface of the laminations to prevent short circuits between layers and reduce eddy current losses. The insulation treatment must ensure that the coating or insulating materials are uniform, complete, with no missed areas, and that the insulation performance meets design requirements.

The interlamination resistance and adhesiveness are both tested according to the standard
GB/T 2522. Standards are negotiable.

M3 and M7 are self-bonding coatings. The shelf life of M3 and M7 coatings is 6 months,
and the recommended storage conditions are temperatures below 35 ℃, avoiding direct
sunlight.

The recommended curing process for M3 is 240℃, 3mpa, and 3min; The recommended
curing process for M7 is 250℃, 2mpa, and 5min。

The rolling peel strength is tested according to the standard DIN EN 1464. The shear
Strength test was performed according to the standard DIN EN 1465.

Stacking

According to the design requirements for stacking methods and order, Tengye stacks the insulated laminations together to form the core. During the stacking process, care must be taken with the order, direction, and gaps between the laminations to ensure tight and orderly assembly, avoiding misalignment or missing laminations.

The assembled core is then shaped to adjust its size and shape to meet design specifications. A clamping device or bolts are used to secure the core, ensuring it remains stable during use and does not loosen due to vibration or magnetic field effects.

Quality Inspection

Comprehensive quality inspections are conducted on the custom-produced silicon steel lamination cores, including checks on dimensional accuracy, stacking coefficient, insulation performance, magnetic properties, and appearance quality. Only qualified cores can proceed to the next process or be delivered to customers; unqualified cores must be reworked or discarded.
